Cybersecurity Audit Services for Mid-Market Companies
BlueRadius provides independent cybersecurity audits for mid-market companies: a written review of your security program against NIST CSF 2.0, the CIS Controls or the framework your customer or regulator requires, with prioritized findings. It is not a CPA attestation such as a SOC 2 report.
Someone has asked how secure you really are. Maybe it is the board, an insurer, a big customer's security questionnaire, or a new IT lead who inherited the environment. A BlueRadius cybersecurity audit answers that question in writing. We review your security program against a recognized framework, show you exactly where the gaps are, and hand you a prioritized plan to close them.
When companies ask for an audit
- Cyber insurance renewal and the application asks questions nobody is sure how to answer.
- A customer's security questionnaire is holding up a deal.
- The board wants an independent view rather than a self-assessment from IT.
- A new IT or security leader needs a baseline before deciding what to fix.
- A SOC 2, ISO 27001 or HIPAA effort is coming and you want to know the gaps first.
- After an incident or a near miss, to find what else is exposed.
What the audit covers
We review the areas that decide whether an attack becomes a breach, not just the technical ones:
- Governance and policy: who owns security, which policies exist, and whether anyone follows them.
- Identity and access: MFA coverage, privileged and admin accounts, joiners and leavers, service accounts.
- Endpoints and patching: device protection, update discipline, and the machines nobody tracks.
- Cloud, email and collaboration: configuration of your cloud accounts, Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace, and email security.
- Backups and recovery: whether you could actually restore after ransomware, and how long it would take.
- Vendors and third parties: which suppliers hold your data or access, and what you know about their security.
- Detection and incident response: what you would see, who would act, and whether there is a plan anyone has rehearsed.
- People: security awareness, phishing exposure, and the processes around payments and access requests.
How it works
Scoping
A short call to agree the framework, the systems and locations in scope, and who we need to talk to. You get a fixed-fee quote before anything starts.
Review
Interviews with the people who run IT and security, a review of your documentation, and, where you allow it, a read-only look at the configuration of your identity, cloud and email systems. Evidence beats opinion, so we check settings rather than take them on trust.
Findings and report
Every finding is tied to something real in your environment, rated for risk, and given an owner and a rough effort. The report opens with an executive summary for leadership and closes with a prioritized roadmap.
Readout
We walk your team through the results, answer questions, and agree what to tackle first. If you want help closing the gaps, our vCISO service can own the roadmap from there, and findings can be tracked in Radius360 so progress is visible to your board.
An audit is not an attestation
We use the word audit because that is what most people call this work, but it is worth being precise. A SOC 2 report comes only from a licensed CPA firm, and a PCI Report on Compliance only from a QSA. Our audit is an independent review that tells you the truth about your program. It is often the step that makes the formal audit go smoothly. If a formal attestation is your goal, see our SOC 2 readiness and PCI compliance services.
Audit, assessment or penetration test?
The terms get used loosely. A cybersecurity audit or assessment reviews the whole program against a framework. A penetration test attacks your systems to find exploitable technical weaknesses. A risk assessment ranks the threats to your business by likelihood and impact. We do all three and will tell you on the scoping call which one answers your question.
Frequently asked questions
What is a cybersecurity audit?
An independent review of how well your organization is protected. We look at your policies, your identity and access setup, your devices, cloud and email configuration, backups, vendors and incident response readiness, compare what we find against a recognized framework, and tell you in writing what is working, what is not, and what to fix first.
Is this the same as a SOC 2 audit?
No. A SOC 2 report can only be issued by a licensed CPA firm, and a PCI Report on Compliance only by a QSA. Our cybersecurity audit is an independent security review that tells you where you stand. Many companies use it as the first step before a formal audit, so they go into the real one knowing what the auditor will find.
What is the difference between a cybersecurity audit and a penetration test?
A penetration test tries to break in and shows you which technical weaknesses an attacker could use. An audit looks at the whole program: the controls, the people and processes around them, and the gaps an attacker would never need to test because nobody owns them. They answer different questions, and most companies need both at some point. See our penetration testing service if that is the question you are trying to answer.
Which framework do you audit against?
Usually NIST CSF 2.0 or the CIS Controls for a general program review. If a customer, regulator or insurer has asked for something specific, we use that instead: ISO 27001, SOC 2 trust services criteria, HIPAA, PCI DSS or NIST 800-171. Findings can be mapped to more than one framework at once.
What do we get at the end?
A written report with an executive summary your leadership and board can read, a scored view of your program against the framework, every finding with its risk, owner and rough effort, and a prioritized roadmap. We walk you through it on a call. Nothing is a slide deck of generic advice; every finding points at something in your environment.
How is it priced?
It is a fixed-fee engagement, quoted after a short scoping call once we know how many people, locations and systems are involved. The scoping call is free.
Book a scoping call
Thirty minutes to understand what prompted the question, what is in scope, and which framework fits. If an audit is the right answer, you get a fixed-fee quote. If it is not, we will say so. Book a 30-minute call.
